HISTORY

IGUAÇU Celulose, Papel S.A. is part of a conglomerate of companies, founded in 1943 from a small lumber company in the state of Santa Catarina.

Within the conglomerate, the project for operations in the pulp and paper segment began in the early 1970s with the acquisition (1971) of the Celupel S.A. factory, which produced mechanical pulp and cardboard in the city of Curitibanos, today Frei Rogério, Santa Catarina. In the following year, the industrial unit of Campos Novos was acquired, which was also located in the state of Santa Catarina, where the duplex-type paper began to be produced.

Due to the demand for raw material for the production of Kraft papers, another industrial unit was acquired, now located in the city of Piraí do Sul, located at approximately 190 km from Curitiba, Paraná state capital. Around the same time, the industrial unit in São José dos Pinhais was also acquired, this one being a producer of double-board paper and other specialty papers, that nowadays produces specialty papers of low grammage, from bleached hardwood pulp.
